The Croods are all cave men. Real cave men were not known to talk though.

Usually cavemen didn't live till 30 - 40.To many's suprise Gran is 60 years old. Cave men date over a million years ago they did live in caves and communicated though noise. It is persumed most cave men didn't wear clothing even though in the movie clothing is worn.
