Mammoths are a group of prehistoric relatives to that of the modern Elephant

Etymology[]

Their name Mammoth while describing the entire group of animals could also be used to describe its size as they where quite large animals.

Anatomy[]

Head-The head of the mammoth was very much different to that of the modern elephant with a sloped dome at the top of the head similar to that of the Moomoth. They possess an elongated prehensile proboscis which they use to grasp onto the grasses below similar to modern Elephants While no visible tusks are seen it can be inferred from mammoth fossils found in our time that they possessed extremely long upward curving tusks.

Ears-They possessed small pointed ears which are different from modern Elephants as a result of living in such cold environments.

Body-The skin of the mammoth was extremely dense similar to that of the modern Elephant and even possessed a layer of fat underneath. The Mammoth possessed flaps of skin underneath its tail similar to modern Elephants as well. Their backs where sloped tapering off at the rear with a large shoulder based hump causing it to rise up briefly. They possess four thick trunk-like legs tipped with 3 flat toenailed toes.

Tail-The tail of the mammoth was extremely short due to similar reasons for their ears being so short.

Pelt-The most notable feature of the mammoth is the thick layer of fur covering its body which was quite thick in order to protect the animal from the cold.

Coloration-Unlike most mammoths known to us through preserved bodies from permafrost, the mammoths of the croodaceous era seem to be a uniform blueish-grey.

Height-The average height of a mammoth could reach up to 8.9-11.2 Feet(2.7-3.4 Meters).

Weight-The mammoth could reach a weight of up to 6.6 Tons.

Habitat[]

While not very common they have been observed roaming mountain ranges within the croodaceous era.

Behavior[]

Not much is known about the behavior of mammoths within the croodaceous era however they may be very passive herd animals similar to modern Elephants or Girelephants.

Diet[]

Woolly mammoths sustained themselves on plant food, mainly grasses and sedges, which were supplemented with herbaceous plants, flowering plants, shrubs, mosses, and tree matter.

Predators[]

There are no known predators of the mammoth shown within the film.

Abilities[]

High Endurance-Due to its large size as well as its similarity towards the modern Elephant and thick skin they are very durable and are able to resist most attacks. from predators.

Weight-The weight of the mammoth and general bulk make them extremely deadly as they would not only be able to make loud noises as they walk from it but could also knock over large objects and run through obsticals.

Hearing-Similar to that of the modern Elephant the hearing is extremely sensitive.

Cold Resistance-Due to their adaptations to the cold they would be able to resist even blizzards with little to no issue.

In The Movie[]

They have had a small mention in the movie, but have not made any major appearances.

One is seen during the "end of the world" by Grug Crood as it falls into a chasm instantly created by the earthquakes.

A Mammoth also smashed the Gorts prior to the film and was also briefly mentioned at the beginning of the film.
